If you think Floyd Mayweather’s ridiculously lavish $25 million mansion in Beverly Hills then wait until you get a load of Johnny Carson’s former Malibu estate that just went on the market for $81.5 million. (If Floyd ever sees this listing, look out.)
The estate’s current owners are the founder of Jones Apparel Group and film producer Sidney Kimmel and his wife, Caroline, who reportedly have made great efforts to stay true to the architect’s original vision when they purchased the property in 2007. And what a property it is.
The place the legendary host of The Tonight Show called home for nearly 20 years was designed by renowned architect Ed Niles. The property is located on approximately four prime acres of manicured grounds and offers panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and coastline along with beach access.
Directly across from the main grounds, which boasts a cascading waterfall, Koi pond and saltwater pool, are a guest house, two bedroom pavilion, kitchen, gym, locker room, and championship tennis court which features a bench from the grass courts of Wimbledon.
The home has a double triangle shaped living room with a 30-foot high glass ceiling and an indoor arboretum. A sunken indoor copper and glass fireplace anchors the living room which flows into the upper lounge and Asian-inspired bar. There is also a formal dining room and a chef’s kitchen. The lower entertainment venue includes an outdoor lounge, media room and bar, wine cellar and indoor/outdoor dining room. The master suite encompasses the entire second floor which includes his and her bathrooms, walk-in wardrobes and two separate, though private, offices.
