Lonzo Ball Rips Nas Before Saying ‘Real Hip-Hop’ Is Future And Migos Aaand I’m Officially Out Of Touch With The Kids
I made a promise to myself long ago that I would be a “cool dad” and adjust to the fluidity of music over generations. I wanted to strangle my parents when they refused to see the art in DMX barking for six minutes and switched the radio channel to the nauseating Michael McDonald. Every parent wants their children to be better than they are.
I’m just a weak man.
I hate the current hip hop ‘mumble-rap’ landscape. Loathe it, even. It ages me two years every time I hear one of these assholes open their mouths. And this disease becomes more deadly when popular public figures validate their verbal diarrhea.
Insert Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball, who previously listed Future second on his list of all-time greatest rappers and claimed that 21 Savage’s new album Issa Album is better than Jay-Z’s 4:44.
During a trip to New York, someone off-camera told Lonzo that he’s going to get Lonzo to listen to some “real hip hop,” to which Ball replied, “Y’all outdated man. Don’t nobody listens to Nas no more.” He then said “Real hip-hop is Migos and Future.”
Nas just has 8 consecutive platinum and multi-platinum albums, has sold over 25 million records worldwide, and whose debut album Illmatic is arguably the greatest hip hop album of all-time. But enough with the facts, lets analyze the lyrics. Maybe I’m wrong and just yelling at Ball to get off my lawn.
Nas: N.Y. State Of Mind
“Inhale deep like the words of my breath. I never sleep, cause sleep is the cousin of death. I lay puzzle as I backtrack to earlier times. Nothing’s equivalent, to the New York State of Mind.”
“Too many rappers, athletes, and actors, but not enough n*ggas in NASA. Who gives you the latest, trends and fashions, but when its time to talk residuals they look past us.”
“Versace Versace Versace Versace Versace Versace Versace Versace Versace etc.”
“Fuck around, pull out my dick and I pee on her.”
Ok, ok. You win Lonzo.
