Patrick Mahomes secured the the NFL’s Most Valuable Player award after leading the Kansas City Chiefs to its first AFC title game since 1993, becoming the youngest player to win MVP since Dan Marino won it for the Miami Dolphins in 1984.

The 23-year-old’s outstanding season will prove lucrative for him when the time comes for him to sign an extension.

According to ESPN.com, Mahomes could end up landing a new deal worth up to $200 million. That would easily top Matt Ryan’s record-setting, five-year, $150 million extension with the Falcons in May.

With that said, Mahomes is living relatively modestly, if the new digs he purchased in Kansas City is any indication.

The Ketchup lover recently bought a 3,759-square-foot home near the upscale Mission Hills Country Club, for a price tag of $1.925 million. According to bizjournals.com, the home was built in 1953 and has three bedrooms and three bathrooms, a chef’s kitchen, a master suite, a swimming pool and a hot tub.

Now if you’ll excuse me, the plumber is here to fix the toilet in my tiny shoebox apartment.

Matt’s love of writing was born during a sixth grade assembly when it was announced that his essay titled “Why Drugs Are Bad” had taken first prize in D.A.R.E.’s grade-wide contest. The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
