Everything old is new again, that goes for a new The Blair Witch Project TV show and the relaunch of Zima. Now the beloved ’80s TV show Magnum P.I. gets a modern-day overhaul.

CBS is rebooting Magnum P.I., but don’t fret because Thomas Magnum is back, so is his classic Ferrari (And a couple new ones before they get trashed), and even Doberman Pincher guard dogs. But the show will not have Tom Selleck as Thomas Magnum, that honor goes to Jay Hernandez who you may have seen in Hostel, Suicide Squad, Bright, Bad Moms, and Nashville.

Also noticeably missing is Magnum’s mustache, but Hernandez explains why he doesn’t rock the iconic stache and went with a goatee instead. “No one is going to replace Tom Selleck,” Hernandez told TV Guide. “You can’t do that. You gotta sorta reinvent it, take what works from the original show and sort of make it new so that’s what we did.”

The synopsis is much the same as the original television show that ran from 1980 until 1988.

Magnum, P.I. is a modern take on the classic series starring Jay Hernandez as Thomas Magnum, a decorated former Navy SEAL who, upon returning home from Afghanistan, repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator. A charming rogue, an American hero and a die-hard Detroit Tigers fan, Magnum has Juliet Higgins and her Dobermans to keep him in line, as well as his trusted buddies and fellow POW survivors TC and Rick when he needs back-up on a job. With keys to a vintage Ferrari in one hand, aviator sunglasses in the other, and an Old Düsseldorf longneck chilling in the fridge, Thomas Magnum is back on the case!

Juliet Higgins is played by Perdita Weeks, Stephen Hill as TC, and Zachary Knighton as Rick. The trailer features plenty of action, Ferraris, and some really angry dudes in the paradise of Hawaii. Magnum is gonna be pissed that the Tigers suck compared to the Detroit teams from the 1980s.
