Creator Of ‘Ten Inch Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Explains The Insane Amount Of Research, And Budget, That Goes Into Porn Parodies
On May 6, 2016, the adult entertainment company Wood Rocket debuted the trailer for their soon-to-be released film, Ten Inch Mutant Ninja Turtles. Wood Rocket is arguably the industry leader in this porn genre, with titles like Game Of Bones: Winter Is Cumming, Bob’s Boners and The Assvengers being among the most popular.
The Ninja Turtles, however, brought the brand and genre to the mainstream. I realized this not just because of the 1.3 million views the Turtles trailer garnered on YouTube but because two women, yes women, were talking about it at my gym.
Lee Roy Myers is the mind behind the parodies. A director, producer, screenwriter, and one of the creators of WoodRocket.com, Myers started his career with another company but went off to do his own thing (pun intended) in after a few years.
I reached out to Myers to discuss his work, turtle banging and just how much research goes into each parody.
When you brainstorm ideas for the next porn parody, do you just go with whatever is big in pop culture?
Usually we have a few questions that we ask ourselves because we always bounce ideas off each other. We always try and find something that we like and then something that we think would be weird or sexy or funny. It has to be something that will find an audience, something based on a show or movie or video game that has a built-in fanbase. Anything that’s a hit or a cult hit usually works. If a movie is about to be released or a highly anticipated TV show is about to premiere, we’ll try and release something around the same date.
Which parody has been the most commercially successful so far?
I’m going to say Ten Inch Mutant Ninja Turtles is probably the most watched. It’s the most popular so far. It’s only been out a couple of weeks, we won’t know the final numbers until much later, but the debut blew our site away. It knocked us out for a bit.
