The Next Call of Duty Will be ‘Black Ops 2’
The Call of Duty franchise has returned with a sequel from the overwhelmingly successful “Black Ops.” The U.K. website from publisher Activision leaked some of the details on the upcoming “Call of Duty: Black Ops II.” The game is developed by Treyarch, the same studio that created the original “Black Ops” title and “Call of Duty: World at War.” The website lists Nov. 13, 2012 as the release date for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The original Black Ops debuted on November 9, 2010 and sold 5.6 million copies in it's first 24 hours alone, so expect the sequel to put up similar, if not better mind-blowing numbers.
Based on the description from the website it appears that the game will be set in modern day times:
“Pushing the boundaries of what fans have come to expect from the record-setting entertainment franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 propels players into a near future, 21st Century Cold War, where technology and weapons have converged to create a new generation of warfare.”
The game will feature small, highly maneuverable helicopters called “Quadrotors,” which were seen in the viral video by FPS Russia. Watch for the game's first trailer which will air on TNT during their broadcast of the NBA Playoffs. If you can't wait till then you can check out some screenshots here.
