Watch Courtney Love Get Booed and Nirvana Perform at their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction

As the resident guy-who-is-hanging-on-to-the-music-of-the-90s in the office, I feel obligated to post this. Truthfully, I’m a much bigger fan of Pearl Jam than Nirvana, but I owned the latter’s Nevermind and MTV Unplugged album long before I got into PJ, and listening to them still elicits memories from exact moments during my teens. For instance, for quite awhile Nevermind was my go-to album (see: COMPACT DISC) that I threw in my stereo when I was lifting weights in my parents basement and their MTV Unplugged album used to get a lot of play during Madden marathons after my friends and I got tired of hearing Pat Summerall and John Madden say the same shit over and over again.

But that’s where my Nirvana-fandom ended for me. I never bought their final album, In Utero, and I eventually replaced the other albums in my rotation with something else. When I go back to them, though, I always find them to be somewhat timeless. Maybe that’s because they are…

Last night, Nirvana took their place in the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame and since Kurt Cobain is no longer on this earth, they needed people to help front the band. They chose all women to join them, which might have been the best way to go since putting a guy out there would have surely ended badly for him, because “FUCK THIS HE SOUNDED NOTHING LIKE KURT!” Good on the band for realizing that.

Here is their induction speech, with Courtney Love getting booed at the end.

Here’s Joan Jett fronting the band during “Smells Like Teen Spirit”

And here’s Lorde stepping in for “All Apologies”
