If you are planning on crushing the trails this summer and doing some hiking as the temperatures spike across America then you will want to take a good look at your gear before you head outdoors. In order to carry all of that gear (water bottle, snacks, change of socks, first aid kit, clothes, bug spray, etc.) you’ll need a trusty daypack to load it all up. Here we have five of the best hiking daypacks for men of all sizes and some are packable.
First up on the top left is the Rocky Mountain Underground Core Pack (15L) which is made with weatherproofed 420d nylon fabric to keep all of your gear dry. It has a breathable vest harness that will provide cooling airflow while you wear it. In the top center we see the Mystery Ranch In & Out – Packable Backpack (19L). This one comes in three colors, is made from 100D CORDURA mini-rip fabric with high abrasion- and tear-resistance, and it stuffs down into a mesh pocket the size of a water bottle when it’s not in use.
On the top right we see the Patagonia Planing Divider Pack (30L). This is more of a traditional style daypack than the packable ones we see here. It’s made with a rugged recycled polyester construction with TPU-film laminate. It’s water resistant and has a breathable hydrophobic shoulder harness. On the bottom left we see the Matador 30D Cordura Freerain (24L). This is another packable option that stuffs into a tiny sack the size of a water bottle. I’ve owned a Matador packable backpack for years and these are excellent.
Last we see the Fjällräven Ulvö Rolltop (23L). The cinch top will allow you to adjust the size of the pack to add more/less space depending on the amount of gear you need to carry. The chest harness will keep it securely attached to your body as you pound the trails and it has dual side-drop pockets for water, sunscreen, and more gear. Let’s check them all out again:
