Last summer, one Bro at the University of California started blowing up on Instagram by traveling around Europe and posing for pics in a bathrobe. He became known as the so-called “Bath Robe Crusader” during the trip, amassing a few thousand followers on Instagram for channeling his inner-Hugh Hefner.

Now he’s back in our lives with a Kickstarter project selling — you guessed it — bathrobes. We asked him a little bit about the project, which he claims is geared towards college-aged Bros.

Where did the idea of a bathrobe company for college students come from?

When robe-trotting throughout Europe and in the U.S., the Bathrobe Crusader realized that life is more exciting when in a robe. As a business student, he is always on the lookout for opportunities so he naturally realized the gap in the market. College students want high quality design, comfort, and a unique lifestyle, and Mr. BathrobeCrusader’s robes encompass all three.

Tell us about the bathrobes you’re making?

The Bathrobe Crusader will deliver a beautifully designed bathrobe with maximum comfort that stands for a unique lifestyle. Mr. Bathrobe Crusader wants to keep the specifics of this limited edition, exclusively numbered, first batch of Bathrobe Crusader bathrobes secret for now.

What makes your $95 bathrobe better than the $20 one I got from Nordstrom Rack?

Mr. Bathrobe Crusader’s robes will have more beautiful designs and be made of higher quality materials than robes over ten times the price. More importantly, as Mr.Bathrobe Crusader frequently says, “its not a bathrobe, it’s a lifestyle”. Mr. Bathrobe Crusader is selling a lifestyle, the ultimate dream, one that he personally lives, breathes and believes in, and is allocating 20% of profits towards the Methuselah Foundation, which helps extend happy and healthy lives for others.

Why do college kids need an on-demand bathrobe brand in their lives?

Lululemon makes lifestyle athletic wear, Vilebrequin makes lifestyle swimwear, Air Jordan makes lifestyle footwear, but there is currently no luxury lifestyle loungewear. Thebathrobe is naturally Mr. Bathrobe Crusader’s first product and there is huge potential for an entirely new category within the apparel sector.
