We are past Labor Day and tradition dictates that this is the time of year when we retire our white sneakers and pants until next year. I don’t personally buy in this tradition and I think anyone can and should wear white all year long but today seemed like as good of a time as any to throw some badass black sneakers on your radar.
This is a collection of black shoes you might not find together on the shelves at the mall or at your local Dick’s Sporting Goods, these are from some brands I’ve hand-picked because of quality manufacturing, their choice of the best possible materials, and some slick designs. Let’s check ’em out, in ascending order of price.
First up are the Colchester High Tops which are on sale and marked down $30. This original basketball shoe design has remained unchanged for 124 years but the build has been updated with vulcanized rubber and canvas for durable construction. The ARKK Copenhagen Raven (top middle) is also on sale and marked down $20. These boast a highly cushioned sole for all-day wear and not just on the court and the lightweight neoprene upper will never hold you back.
On the top right, we see the Jack Erwin Laight. I love this traditional low profile style and these are handmade in Portugal, home to some of the finest leather on the planet and a country with a rich tradition of crafting the finest shoes. The Nisolo Cortez Mid Top Sneaker is handmade in León, Mexico. This mid-top sneaker design features a soft leather insole that molds to your footbed and gets more comfortable on day one. The last shoes are the Vivobarefoot Borough which are a perfect blend of modern street style and premium craftsmanship. The high-quality leather upper is ready to go and won’t require breaking in while the ultra-thin TPU sole is built for maximum comfort.
