Two Brothers Decided To ‘Rethink’ Golf Polos To Create Knockdown Nines, The Ultimate Summer Polo Party Shirt
It’s hard to rock a golf polo in a social situation and not look like Stan Halen from Workaholics. He is, after all, television’s favorite puka shell-rocking Oakley sales rep:
That’s why we can get behind the mission of Knockdown Nines, a clothing brand started by two brothers who want to “rethink golf polos.” Drawing inspiration from Bob Barker to the 1999 Ryder Cup shirts, the guys behind Knockdown Nines aspire to make the golf polo the ultimate summer party shirt.
For the 60 hours a week when we can get away from our corporate jobs, we’re rarely more than an arm’s length from a good beer and great company. Whether it’s grilling out with friends or playing 18 holes, we don’t take any half measures on the weekends – so why should our shirts?
We’re brothers who grew up playing golf on muni courses where we fell in love with the audacious polos of the 1990’s. That’s a large part of why we set out to design a line of new shirts for modern guys. We found ourselves day dreaming of the perfect polo: the comforts of performance fabrics with the bold and exciting patterns of the 90’s. It turns out no one really makes that, so we decided to make our own. At first, it was just a couple patterns we drew up and made for ourselves. Soon a few more for some friends. Not long after that we had a name, a logo, and a real passion for designing and wearing these shirts.
They created a polo that’s breathable, lightweight, and durable, boasting a super soft blend of 95% bamboo 5% spandex. And the result is a shirt that fits great and looks badass in almost every summer social situation — a music festival, Vegas, after-work Top Golf, a pool party, etc.
