As you may or may not know, we’re pretty big fans of Amazon. They have a lot of great daily deals and if Millennials love anything, it’s a deal. But today, Walmart just decided to throw their hat further in the e-commerce ring. They don’t like that Amazon has swooped in and taken the crown they previously wore.

Per the release on Walmart’s site:

Walmart announced free two-day shipping to home and stores on more than two million items, without a membership fee. The new offer is available starting at 8 a.m. EST today. With this announcement, Walmart has also lowered the minimum purchase required for free shipping to home to $35, from $50. Items being shipped to stores continue to have no price threshold.*

“I couldn’t be more excited. We are moving at the speed of a startup,” said Marc Lore, president and CEO of Walmart U.S. eCommerce. “Two-day free shipping is the first of many moves we will be making to enhance the customer experience and accelerate growth.”

“In today’s world of e-commerce, two-day free shipping is table stakes. It no longer makes sense to charge for it,” added Lore.

When you think about it, Walmart has almost the same prices for most items as Amazon. On top of that now you get free two-day shipping without paying membership fees. We look forward to Amazon’s response. Until then, get shopping!
