Onitsuka Tiger was a Japanese sports brand founded by Kihachiro Onitsuka in 1949. The company would go through later name changes before becoming ASICS in 1977. ASICS still makes Onitsuka Tiger sneakers today. Onitsuka sits under the umbrella of the larger corporation.
The Tiger California 78 from Onitsuka is a simple, clean everyday sneaker you can wear with versatility. They’re made with a durable (yet lightweight) suede and mesh upper. The California 78s also have improved cushioning and an ORTHOLITE™ insole.
What to Wear with Onitsuka Tiger California 78 EX
Today’s outfit is centered around an athleisure look. Start with a pair of thick cotton sweats from the Canadian brand Reigning Champ. These sweats are made from midweight terry cotton and are cut to have a slim silhouette. Subtle design notes like jersey-lined slant pockets and a gusseted crotch provide additional comfort.
For the top, a basic white tee from Forty Five will do the trick. Layer the neutral-colored tee with this cozy 10-Year Pullover Hoodie from Flint and Tinder. It’s made with 23 oz extra soft cotton fleece from South Carolina and is reinforced with twill tape to make sure it never breaks down or loses shape.
And last we’ve got this G-Shock GW9400-1B to go on the wrist. This beast has a stainless steel case and strap and has water resistance of up to 200 meters. Super illuminator LED lights make it easy to read everything from the time, the altitude, the barometric pressure and temperature, and the compass.
G-Shock is another brand born from a brilliant Japanese designer, so this watch will tip its cap to the Onitsuka’s you’ve chosen to wear.
