Do you want a fast, powerful, vivid seven inch tablet? Great news! The Nexus 7 is available now for $250 or less! Or, if you just want to read a book or stream a movie instead of getting something that resembles a computer, you can get a Kindle Fire HD for less than $200!
Or you can wait a few months and get the seemingly inevitable iPad Mini. But why?
I’m not down on the iPad mini as a product. By all accounts it’s basically a smaller iPad 2, and that’s not a bad thing. If you really love Apple’s products but don’t need a ten-inch tablet, it’ll be nice for you.
But if you are literally anybody else, the iPad Mini isn’t worth it. For one thing, if you just need a smaller tablet, the Nexus 7 and the Kindle Fire already have your bases covered. I’m more of a Nexus 7 man myself, but the Kindle Fire will do you if all you do is read books, stream Netflix and surf.
There’s also the fact that you won’t be able to get Google Maps and will likely have to deal with Apple’s miserable Lightning connector. In short, if you need a seven-inch tablet, don’t wait on Apple. Buy one now.
