But instead of watching the boring ass US trailer, let’s all watch the weird ass Japanese one!
Once again, Sony is all about you playing old games in a new way. Hopefully the just released Ratchet and Clank Collection will be devoid of all the technical hassles that were laid out earlier today. But hey, it’s Sony, you just never know.
Anyhow, let’s talk about the promotional clip above. It’s awesome for a number of reasons. First, it’s an excellent reminder of how Ratchet looks in Japan, i.e. the super busy eyebrows. I also love the part in which the little kids have so much fun holding a huge gun in their hands! And no, these kids are in a classroom in Tokyo, not Texas. But the assumption is understandable.
Unfortunately, the guy in the funny costume is followed by a boring looking older lady, though it’s somewhat amusing seeing the aforementioned tykes go ape-sh*t from watching the game in action (especially the one girl when the characters fall into a pit and dies). Oh, and by the way, it’s not just you: the new coat of paint looks a lot like the original version.
Once again, it’s Sony being Sony. Which is to say, rather lazy. First they take away the ability to play PS2 games on the PS3, then they offer the chance to play all those old games back, with the promise of upgraded visuals. And what we get is simply clearly image fidelity. Yay.
It’s also worth noting that there’s also a God of War collection, the God of War Saga, which includes the first main games, including the last one for the PS3, plus the two PSP installments, all together. Sounds like the better deal. But is there a bizarre clip, again from Japan, of Kratos trying to pick a girl up at a bar? Unfortunately not…
