This is something that I am not 100% comfortable with. Okay, so the first Kick-Ass was pretty fun, mixing the teenage angst of the Spider-Man movies with the gruesome violence that would result if an ordinay Joe tried to put on long underwear and fight crime. So it’s only natural that a sequel would be in the offing. Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall is the title, Jeff Wadlow is the director and much of the first film’s cast has already been signed up to return. And some new faces as well.
Deadline is reporting that Universal is going after Jim Carrey for the role of The Colonel, the adult super-hero who assembles a group of fellow misfits to take on the crime syndicate of the former Red Mist (newly renamed The Motherf*cker). Carrey has been a huge fan of the series, donning the titular character’s costume for a duet with Conan O’Brien during the talk show host’s Legally Prohibited From Being Funny tour, so it’s more than likely that he’ll take the role.
So what do you think? Carrey’s career has been pretty weird this century, with a bizarre mix of kids’ films and projects like the dark I Love You Phillip Morris. One can hope that he doesn’t go too far over the top in Kick-Ass 2, but we can’t count on it.
