I guess he’s more like a meat man after all. Well, this isn’t good. Production on Iron Man 3 has been going at a good clip, and everything I’ve seen from the set has made me pretty excited about Tony Stark’s third outing. But now it looks like we might have to wait a little longer than we thought to see it, as the movie’s star has taken a tumble, shutting down production for an unknown period of time.
Marvel issued a press release this morning informing us that “Robert Downey Jr sustained an ankle injury on the set of Iron Man 3 in Wilmington, North Carolina while performing a stunt. There will be a short delay in the production schedule while he recuperates.” Note that they don’t speculate on the length of the delay. Note also that RObert Downey Jr. still does his own stunts – badass.
Iron Man 3, directed by Shane Black, is set for release on May 3rd of next year. Most movies have a little bit of buffer time built in to absorb incidents like this and stay on schedule, but there’s no word as of yet on whether this injury will impact the eventual release date.
