Well, this sucks. Can you guess the very stupid reason why this movie is delayed?
If you guessed “to add unnecessary 3D,” give yourself a gold star. Deadline is reporting that G.I. Joe: Retaliation, the new action flick starring the Rock and Bruce Willis that looks to throw out all the crap from the first movie and replace it with ninja fighting and big explosions, has been bumped from its June 29th opening date to nine months in the future, next March.
The film needs the extra time to add post-production 3D, which is becoming a big seller in foreign markets, especially Russia and China. I can count on one hand the number of movies that have been improved by being in 3D, and none of them had the effects added in post – they were all filmed from the beginning with 3D cameras. It’s a shame that what was looking like one of the summer’s best action movies is being delayed for more gimmickry.
