Let’s be honest, nobody ever set up two cans and a piece of string as a telephone. We’re pretty sure that stopped as a method of communication in the 1960s. But that doesn’t mean people don’t have a misplaced nostalgia for that particular science experiment.
So, hey, why not build, design, and sell a can that you plug into your smartphone to talk to people with? That won’t look incredibly stupid!
Yeah, hipsters are behind this one. How’d you guess?
Seriously, we’re not sure a Kickstarter can get more hipster than this. They’re literally just cramming some basic electronics from Radio Shack into a can. It’s a speaker and microphone, a can, and either a USB connector or a TRS (tip-ring-sleeve: what your smartphone uses for a headphone jack) connector.
And they want to raise $30,000 on Kickstarter to make this thing, because, you know, it’s totally not the kind of thing somebody with too much money will buy, use once, and then throw in some junk drawer to never use again.
And for $500 you can get it engraved and gold-plated!
