The not so jolly green giant might get another crack at the big screen following his star turn in The Avengers. If you read my blazed review of The Avengers, you’ll remember that I called the Hulk the best thing about the movie. I don’t know what it is that made the Gamma Goliath so compelling in this movie when his two solo outings both were flaccid, but it seems like audiences are agreeing with me. Mark Ruffalo’s performance as both Dr. Bruce Banner and his irradiated alter ego provide some of the flick’s most exciting moments, which came as a bit of a surprise to Marvel brass.
In an interview with Forbes, Marvel’s Paul Gitter comments on how the company has been “pleasantly surprised by the phenomenal response” to the hero, and it may be making them re-evaluate their plans for the man-monster. Some rumors had been flying that the Hulk was in line for a TV series, but it’s possible that the company will “spin him off to a stand-alone program next year” complete with another movie in 2015. Can they get it right the third time?
