The Aftermath: Snapshots from BroBible’s Revelation Summer Kick-Off Concert
Last Friday night’s Revelation Summer Kick-Off Concert was epic. On a beautiful, if steamy night in New York City, some 3,000 Bros and babes poured into Terminal 5 for an incredible four-hour concert, all to benefit Pencils of Promise.
Up-and-coming Philly-Jersey rap duo Chiddy Bang took the stage at 8:30 for an opening set that instantly launched them onto the radars of everyone in the building. We told you this leading up to the show and our conviction was only reaffirmed by Friday night’s performance: Chiddy Bang is going to be huge one day, and we’re just thrilled to have been able to share them with all of you so early in what will be a monster career. Then came RJD2, who opened with the “Mad Men” theme, “A Beautiful Mine,” as if to say, “Yeah, yeah, this is the track that’s always mentioned alongside my name, but wait till you hear the rest of my stuff.” RJD2 was a thing to watch behind those four turn tables, grabbing and flipping through records like a fiend, as a single projection screen behind him supplied often-mind-blowing accompanying images. And yes, he even broke out mini-Mario for the “Mario Bros. Theme Song.”
And then there was Pretty Lights. Wow, what a performance. Correction: Wow, what a two-and-a-half-hour performance. The dynamic duo of Derek and Cory rocked Terminal 5 so hard and mesmerized the audience with such a stunning light show, it’s hard to even put into words how epic of a performance it actually was. So let’s try some photos. After the jump, you’ll see the night’s progression from Terminal 5 set-up to the after party at Hudson Terrace. Just a note that these are not the official, professional photos, but just what we took on our point-and-shoots throughout the night. They should, however, paint a good picture of what hopefully will become the first of many great BroBible concerts. (And just one last reminder: We want to see your photos from Friday night’s show, so send them into email@example.com.)
