Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert Reunite for Classic ‘Even Step(v)hen’ Segment

by 9 years ago

Last night, Steve Carell made his first appearance ever on “The Colbert Report,” and any “Daily Show” fan hoping for a reprise of Carell and Stephen Colbert’s classic “Even-Step(v)hen” segment hit the jackpot. The topic: “Is it awkward for Stephen to interview me?” The two have of course come a long way since they were “warring” correspondents on Jon Stewart’s 11 p.m. broadcast. Colbert’s show is a cornerstone of the smartest political commentary/satire hour on television. Carell, meanwhile, is the star of “The Office,” and big blockbuster movies like the forthcoming “Despicable Me” and “Dinner for Shmucks.” But the premise of last night’s “Even-Step(v)hen” was all too appropriate — is Colbert jealous of Carell’s non-Comedy Central success? The hilarious video, plus the show’s opening bit (which takes place in a bizarro-world called “The Carell Corall”), is after the jump.
