POLL: Will Darrelle Revis Play for the Jets This Season?

by 8 years ago

The premiere of the New York Jets edition of “Hard Knocks” is already upon us — it airs Wednesday night at 10 p.m. on HBO and gets a sneak peak today at noon in Times Square — but one player we know we won’t be seeing in episode 1 is Darrelle Revis. The NFL’s best cornerback is still a holdout, even though he still has three years left on his contract. Revis currently makes $1 million a year and wants to be the highest-paid defensive player in the league, which means an annual salary of north of $15 million. How are negotiations going? Apparently not so well. The latest from Jets management is that Revis isn’t getting signed anytime soon. GM Jeff Tannenbaum said of the latest round of negotiations, “Fundamentally, there really wasn’t any change, and right now, we can’t find something that makes sense for both sides, so we really don’t have any progress.” When asked if he thought Revis would play this season for the Jets, owner Woody Johnson told ESPN, “My gut feeling is, I would say no.” All of which got us wondering…
