When people think of the Navy SEALs, they probably think about the physical toughness of the job requirements before they think about the mental toughness. But the mental toughness of SEAL life a serious matter: These guys risk enemy capture, so they train like hell to make sure they’re not giving anything up in the event of a POW situation.

SEALs, Green Berets, and Army Rangers all go through SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) training for such a terrible scenario. Business Insider brought in former Navy SEAL Brandon Webb, founder of, to talk about how elite military members are trained to not give up information in the event of capture.

There’s A LOT more to it than “deny until you die.”
