There is no sensation more terrifying than driving a car, pushing down on the brake pedal, and… nothing. It happened to me once while driving down a hill in a snowstorm. The panic was very, very real while I low-geared to slow down and pumped the brakes relentlessly until gravity slowed me down. It’s a terrifying experience.
Shout out to this Florida race car driver’s brain for firing on all cylinders. His brakes stop working while driving at top speed on a track, so he reacts without panic: By doing everything he can to coast the car to a stop.
