The Latest Teacher Sex Scandal Involves A ‘Best Of The Best Teacher’ Award Winner
It’s getting so we can’t go a week without some teacher sex scandal hitting the news wires. What is going on with our educational system these days?
Today we venture to Whitfield County, Georgia where a 32 year-old high school teacher named Elizabeth Scroggs allegedly just couldn’t keep her hands, and other body parts, off of an 18 year-old male student. Now normally a 32 year-old woman having sex with an 18 year-old would be pretty awesome for the guy, but as we have all learned by now, you just can’t do that when you’re, you know, a teacher.
Scroggs, who was named “the Best of the Best Teacher for Chattanooga, Northwest Georgia, and the surrounding areas” in 2010, was charged with felony sexual assault by persons with supervisory or disciplinary authority for having a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old, according to the Dalton Daily Citizen.
Scroggs was picked up at the school on Wednesday morning after the Whitfield County sheriff’s central office received an anonymous tip.
Capt. Rick Swiney of the sheriff’s office said that the student was a willing participant in the relationship.
Perhaps she too will get lucky and get off with just probation. More importantly, there has yet to be an announcement on whether she has now to forfeit her “best teacher” award.
Reactions from those who know her?
