Teacher Who Became A Stripper After She Was Fired For Having Sex With Student Sentenced To 90 Days In Jail
When we last checked in on Mary Beth Haglin, the former substitute teacher who was fired from her job for having an inappropriate relationship with a student, she was exposed as having a new career as a stripper named “Bambi.” However, Friday was her day of reckoning and she was sentenced to serve 90 days in jail for having sex with a 17-year-old student.
The 24-year-old teacher from Cedar Rapids, Iowa lost her long-term substitute teacher job when she was caught having a sexual relationship with a student from Washington High School. Haglin garnered nationwide notoriety when she shared her story on Dr. Phil and Daily Crime Watch. The latter show caught Haglin still contacting after the court explicitly told her to not have contact. They also discovered that Haglin became a stripper where the student visited her while she was shaking her moneymaker. That’s when prosecutors brought new charges against the former teacher.
Besides jail, she will also have to pay a $625 fine and spend 10 years on the sex offender registry. Haglin faced two years in jail.
“Any violations of that section of terms of probation could result in additional consequences including an extension of the parole period or a revocation of parole,” the judge said.
