Iowa State and Kansas State. The fourth and fifth seeds in the Big Twelve. This is going to be an amazing game, and I cannot wait for it. Both of these teams look very solid. One of them has a better national ranking, while the other holds the lead in conference placement. Seeing as this is a matchup between two teams in the same conference, give me fourth in the Big Twelve Iowa State to win this game.
Kansas State is a good team in not-so-good form. They have lost their last two games against Texas Tech and then Oklahoma. Both of these teams are not nationally ranked, and both of these teams held Kansas State to below 70 points. However, these two games definitely don’t portray the entirety of Kansas State’s season. For example, those two losses don’t tell you that forward Keyontae Johnson has been elite this season. With averages of 17.5 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game, leading the team in both categories. Those losses also can’t highlight how Kansas State’s guard Markquis Nowell has been third in the nation in his average assists per game with 7.6. Or how he’s also been racking up 2.3 steals per game. Both denote his incredible floor general capabilities and his high defensive work rate.
However, while I do believe the better players belong to Kansas State, the better conference record and team form belong to Iowa State. And I think these factors will carry them through. They just beat ranked team TCU by double digits giving themselves a huge morale boost going into their Saturday afternoon matchup. And that’s also not to say that this Cyclone’s team is full of scrubs, either. Between their two backcourt players, they have the team highs in points per game, assists per game, and steals per game. That’s a pretty stacked combo.
Now there is absolutely no clear winner in this game. However, if you’re forcing me to choose, I’ll ride with the Cyclones. Bet on Iowa State and get $150 in bonus bets if you pick the winner with DraftKings.
