On Monday night, the number 22 ranked TCU Horned Frogs will host the number 5 ranked Kansas Jayhawks for their second matchup of the season. When they met a month ago, Kansas lost to the Horned Frogs by 23 points in one of the worst home losses in recent history for the Jayhawks. After trailing by ten at halftime, they couldn’t find a way to close the gap and watched as TCU pulled ahead for a big win against the at-the-time number two team in the country. Aside from that loss, there hasn’t been much wrong with Kansas’ season so far. At 22-5, they’re at the top of the Big 12 and have no other losses at home. TCU has had a good season, too, but at 18-9 they’re not as much of a powerhouse as Kansas. Being one of the only five teams in the country to have handed Kansas a loss, though, it’ll be a good fight between two tournament bound teams.
There’s no doubt that Kansas wants revenge for the loss to TCU back in late January. A team as good as they are doesn’t take kindly to being beaten (especially at home), and they showed definite improvement in their ability to come from behind, regain a lead, and win when it counted in their game against Baylor on Saturday. TCU is coming off two consecutive wins, and with the way they performed against the Jayhawks in their last game, they’ll likely be ready for the fast paced offense the Jayhawks bring, but don’t expect them to be able to shut down Kansas’ scoring the way they did in the last one. TCU isn’t anything they can’t handle; Kansas is too talented of a team to lose to a beatable squad twice in one season.
