The Suns against the Clippers. One of the last games before All-Star weekend, and boy, is it a good one. A single loss is all that sets these two teams apart in record, but an entirely different story is painted when you look at the season leading up to this game. The Clippers have been disjointed at best and uncaring at worst, with their best players sitting games for fun. The Suns, on the other hand have spent their time trying their best to gel, and with a player like Kevin Durant coming to town, the motivation is at an all-time high to show him how right he was in that choice.
Now the Clippers have been active at the trade deadline, and the moves they made seem to already be making their impact, I guess, as they beat the flailing Warriors on Tuesday. That game Tuesday was also the first game in what felt like forever that we saw Kawhi touch the court, and while he did put up 33, the team looked incredibly disjointed. I mean, this Warriors team that they beat is just not good, and even then, they barely managed a ten-point win. As much as I think the depth of this team is crazy and, on paper, they should be winning a lot more games; they’re throwing that away with terrible team chemistry. And honestly, it’s just sad.
The Suns, on the other hand, have not had the mindset of throwing everything together last minute and hoping for the best. When their stars have been healthy, they’ve played and shined. Devin Booker returned, and he looked like he didn’t miss a beat. He scored 32 points, with a sneaky 19 assists from Chris Paul to back him up. That win also came against 3rd in the West Sacramento Kings, which until this season, I never thought I’d ever type. And I can only imagine the energy boost that happens when you bring a guy like Kevin Durant onto your squad and put him courtside. I’m very confident in the fact that every player is trying to show Kevin Durant right now why they deserve to be getting minutes with him. Call it the Lebron effect.
The Suns have been trying to gel for longer and beating better teams. I don’t trust the lack of chemistry on the Clippers this season. Bet on the Suns to win and get $150 in bonus bets if you pick the winner with DraftKings.
