The marquis game of the NFL weekend is going down between the Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings. The early Sunday game is a place to land some value for funding your account and afternoon bets.

Since this was written earlier in the week, there are still questions surrounding Josh Allen and his arm. Case Keenum is the backup for Buffalo — which is actually kind of perfect for this situation. Keenum has only been with Buffalo for this season, so the playbook is likely to be scaled back and opened as his play dictates. Minnesota fans know what peak performance looks like for Keenum. He was 11-3 as a starter for the Vikings in 2017. He was ditched after that season as the team signed Kirk Cousins.

That is where this game really will play out: Cousins.

Buffalo has weapons on offense, and even if we acknowledge that Josh Allen is amazing, it is reasonable to expect Keenum to manage the ship. If the defense can stand up and make Cousins earn a victory for Minnesota, it could make the Bills quarterback immaterial.

This is where “Bad Kirk Cousins” comes to the forefront.

Traditionally the moniker is reserved for Kirk playing on Monday Night Football, where he is 2-10 in his career. Some expand it into other ‘primetime games.’ In those contests, he is 8-18. A beatdown at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles this year did not help change the narrative.

If you expand out even further — to simply “winning teams” — it makes it look even worse.

Cousins was just 4-19 in his career with Washington against teams with winning records.

During his current tenure with Minnesota, he is an underwhelming 7-22 in such games.

Cousins has a career tally of 66-60-2. It makes his splits: 11-41 versus winning teams, 55-19-2 versus teams with losing records.

The Bills are 6-2. If you are new to all of this, that is a winning record. Kirk doesn’t play against the other quarterback. He plays against the other defense. The Bills defense is its strength — as I have written before, all of the games against Green Bay, Chiefs, Steelers, and Ravens.

The mystery of Keenum — or if he is announced as the starter — will only make the line better for you on the Bills. Make your play on Buffalo and get $200 back when they win. (That’s $200 in addition to your other winnings)
