On Sunday, the Indianapolis Colts traveled to Buffalo to face off against the Bills, leaving the comfort of Lucas Oil Stadium for a New Era Field that was blanketed by an ever-increasing amount of snow thanks to a blizzard that gave this season’s fog-covered matchup between the Falcons and the Patriots a worthy competitor in regard to visibility. The conditions made life difficult for every player involved, but they really gave Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri a run for his money in both a figurative and literal sense.
The 44-year-old veteran currently has the second-most points in the history of the NFL, but he was only able to add one more to his total by the end of the game. With a little over one minute to go in the fourth quarter, the veteran kicker managed to pull off one of the most improbable extra point attempts you’ll ever see after his teammates (and a few sideline personnel) spent a couple of minutes furiously kicking at the snow to expose a patch of turf in order to give Vinatieri a chance to make the kick.
Oh my goodness, @adamvinatieri. Got it! ❄️❄️❄️ #Colts https://t.co/mQAhS5jjBe

Vinatieri also attempted a couple of field goals over the course of the game— including the disastrous attempt embedded below— but neither of them managed to split the uprights.

The two whiffs put a sizeable dent in his field goal percentage, and it turns out those misses could have cost him more than the game.
Kicking in a blizzard could cost Adam Vinatieri a $500,000 incentive. He needs to hit at least 90% of his field goals this season to get it. He was at 95.7% before the Buffalo game. He's now at 88%.

For The Win notes there’s still a chance Vinatieri could get out of the red by the time the season ends:
In order to get back up to the 90% mark, Vinatieri will have to make at least five field goals without a miss. He’s currently sitting at 22-25 on the season. Making five in a row would bring him up to 27-30.
Vinatieri is averaging two field goal attempts per game, so he should get a chance to get back up to 90% by season’s end.
I wish him the best of luck.
