Bad News for Guys Who Like Seeing Women in Bikinis Play Volleyball
This isn’t exactly a groundbreaking move, since this has been an option for most other high-level competitions, but may come as a surprise to those of us who watch this event, oh, I don’t know, every four years.
Federation spokesman Richard Baker said that “many of these countries have religious and cultural requirements so the uniform needed to be more flexible”.
The modified rule permits “shorts of a maximum length of three centimeters (1.18 inches) above the knee, and sleeved or sleeveless tops”.
Bikinis have helped define women's beach volleyball, which became an Olympic medal event at the 1996 Atlanta Games. Players have typically opted to wear body suits only in cold weather.
The alterations are aiming to increase the game’s popularity in countries with more modest beliefs. That’s all well and good, but what about morally bankrupt Americans? Won’t someone think of us for a change?
