Bryce Harper Plays Softball at Washington Monument

by 8 years ago

Bryce Harper made his Major League on Saturday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. On Monday he was playing slow-pitch softball. So in a span of two days he went from getting his first Major League hit off of Chad Billingsley to swinging at looping pitches from an overweight accountant. The World Wildlife Foundation and the Alliance to Save Energy were playing slow-pitch softball on the Mall in Washington, D.C. and Harper joined in the game. The 19-year-old super prospect took a pitch, then unleashed his mighty swing that has given him a golden ticket to the MLB. He whiffed. Hard. That makes me feel infinitely better that the #1 baseball prospect is missing fat, floating softballs just like I do. Harper then smacked a high fly ball to right field. Not sure the Washington Nationals want their star outfielder messing with his swing over slow-pitch softball or risking injury, but it made for an awesome moment.
