Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have quite the on-court rivalry. The two, who grew up playing with and against each other as part of the same national high school graduating class, have been closely linked together since Reese’s LSU Tigers beat Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes in the 2023 National Championship Game.

The two linked up for yet another meeting, this time in the WNBA, and more controversy ensued on Sunday as Clark’s Fever took on Reese’s Sky. But, after the game, Clark had nothing but kind words for her counterpart.

Sunday was the third meeting between the pair in less than three months. Back in April, LSU and Iowa played in Albany in the Elite Eight, and Caitlin Clark got the better of Reese and the Tigers, winning that matchup. Then, back in May, they played their first WNBA game together. That was another win for Clark, this time with the Indiana Fever, but the big story out of that game was the cheap shot that Fever guard Chennedy Carter gave Clark, and Reese seen cheering it on in the background.

On Sunday, Caitlin Clark and the Fever won once again, as Clark had a near triple-double of 23 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds en route to a 91-83 win. Reese had 11 points and 13 rebounds.

The big story was a flagrant foul committed by Angel Reese on Caitlin Clark when Reese went for a block and instead slapped Caitlin Clark across the head.

Both players said after the game that there was no ill-will and that it was a basketball play. And, Clark had more to say about her big rival, heaping praise on Angel Reese.

That’s a class answer by Caitlin Clark. I think both players respect each other far more than divisive voices on social media want us to believe.

The two will play once again next Sunday.
