So, last week did not go as planned. Tua Tagovailoa’s little brother Taulia decided to have his coming out party spoiling our Minnesota -19.5 pick over Maryland as the Terps knocked off the Golden Gophers 45-44 in overtime. We brush that loss off though and get back to our winning ways this week as we circle a matchup in the AAC.
College Football Lock Of The Week: Houston at Cincinnati
Kick-Off: Saturday, Nov. 7, 3:30 PM EST on ABC
The Pick: Cincinnati -13.5
Both Cincinnati and Houston faced stiff tests last weekend. The Cougars failed theirs by losing at home to UCF 44-21 while the Bearcats answered the call by flexing their muscle all over Memphis in a 49-10 win. This could be a letdown spot for both teams here after marquee matchups a week ago, but with the line sitting under 14 points and with Cincinnati being at home in this one, the Bearcats are a lock for Saturday.
Both of these teams can fill up a stat sheet as Houston and Cincinnati rank fourth and fifth, respectively, in the AAC in yards per game. The name of this game, however, is that the Bearcats actually have a defense that gives up just 306 yards per game. Houston lives and dies through the air it could face some real problems against a Bearcats defense that has given up less than 210 passing yards per game this season.
Back to this possibly being a letdown spot, Cincinnati simply can not afford any sort of letdowns this season if it does want to try and sneak into the College Football Playoff this year or at worse a New Year’s Six Bowl. Cincinnati, the No. 6 team in the country, isn’t going to fall victim this week to a below-average Houston team, one in which it’ll be looking to run up the score to help pad the resume.
