Kyrie Irving’s off the court behavior is beginning to cost him some serious money during his extended hiatus from the Brooklyn Nets.

Earlier this week the NBA revealed that they were investigating a leaked video of a maskless Irving attending a private birthday party for his sister that violated the league’s Covid-19 protocols.

On Friday, the NBA fined Irving $50,000 for violating the league’s health and safety protocols and are forcing him to forfeit his salary for the two games that he missed while quarantining.

Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving has been fined $50,000 for violating the league’s Health and Safety Protocols, which among other things prohibit attending indoor social gatherings of 15 or more people or entering bars, lounges, clubs or similar establishments, it was announced today by Byron Spruell, President, League Operations. The violation occurred when he attended a private indoor party last weekend.

Irving will forfeit salary for any games he misses due to his five-day quarantine period, which will allow him to return to team activities on Sat., Jan. 16 if he continues to test negative.

Overall, Irving is set to lose out on $870,000 to salary and fines because of the maskless birthday party video.

The enigmatic Nets superstar who has mysteriously sat out the past 5 games could return on Saturday if he passes his Covid-19 test.
