Welcome to Week 5 in the NFL. We have a ton of divisional matchup to choose from, and this week we feature two of these with teams that have struggled as they’ve now completed a quarter of their season. The other games we have are two NFC West teams making the cross-country trip to take on teams on the East Coast that have been awful to start the year. Let’s see what games you should wager on in Week 5.
Record this season: 9-6-1
Arizona Cardinals (-7) vs. New York Jets
Sunday 1:00 P.M. EST`
There’s no sugar coating it, the Jets are bad. They’re not just bad from an actual football standpoint, but in betting; in their four games, they’ve yet to cover the spread and have an NFL-worse -10.2 difference from the spread. Arizona has struggled themselves over the last couple of weeks with losses to the Lions and Panthers.
New York is also going to rely on Joe Flacco this week as Sam Darnold is out with a shoulder injury. Great opportunity for the Cardinals to get back on track.
Houston Texans vs Jacksonville Jaguars (Over 53.5)
Sunday 1:00 P.M.
The Texans will play their first game post the Bill O’Brien era against their division rival Jacksonville Jaguars. Houston is going to come out firing on all cylinders this week at home. This is a great chance to see vintage Deshaun Watson ball out against the average-at-best Jags defense. Jacksonville is to put up points themselves, especially with D.J. Chark back in the lineup against the Houston defense who allowing over 30 points-per-game. This game has all the makings for a shootout.
Los Angeles Rams vs. Washington Football Team Under 46.5
Sunday 1:00 P.M.
The Rams did not need any kind of offense to defeat the Giants last week and they’ll face off against another struggling NFC East team this week. Washington is riding a three-game losing streak and will bench quarterback Dwayne Haskins for Kyle Allen, which is not much of an upgrade. Both teams have talent on the defensive side and will keep this score low.
New York Giants (+9.5) vs. Dallas Cowboys
Sunday 4:25 P.M.
Both of these teams need a win bad. Daniel Jones and the Giants offense have struggled against some tough defenses to start the season, but they’ll get an opportunity to face a Dallas team that’s allowing an NFL worse 36.6 points-per-game, plus it’s a Jason Garrett revenge game. As bad as the Cowboys defense is, the offense is good, mostly thanks to the excellent play of Dak Prescott who is the passing yards leader through four weeks. This spread is too high for a division game between underachieving teams.
