Watch Olympian Nick Symmonds Break the U.S. Record for Fastest Beer Mile

Two days ago, Olympian Nick Symmonds, who finished fifth in the 800-meter final in London, attempted to break the world record for this crazy event. (Yes, we also were surprised to find out that the beer mile has a record book.)

Symmonds trained with Coors Heavies as you can see from the video above, and he had his actual Olympic coach with him to provide the needed motivation. Alas, he did not complete his ultimate goal of beating the 5.09-mark set by world record holder Jim Finlayson in 2007, running a 5:19. That was good, though, for the U.S. record.
