No. 2 High Schooler in Country Jabari Parker Is Going to Duke
It should go without saying that Parker is really, really good. A 6-foot-8 high-scoring forward, Parker was Gatorade's National Player of the Year last year after averaging 19.5 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game for Simeon Career Academy (which also graduated Derrick Rose five years ago). He's had a tough go of it so far this season—he fractured a bone in his ankle while playing with the USA national team in the U-17 championships in July—but the Chicago native is expected to be 100% by the time he matriculates.
Sports Illustrated just released an in-depth look at the process Parker took to come to his decision today. It's a great read that should thrill Duke fans and cause involuntary retching from everyone else. Of which there are a lot of people.
