After watching this video, I can say that in order to make the sport of pole-vaulting more exciting, at least one faulty stick should be intentionally supplied to the jumpers. Doing this would add an element of excitement that I believe the sport of pole vaulting has been missing for a long time.
In all seriousness, pole-vaulting is an extremely draining sport, and the guy’s form is pretty impressive. I originally thought that the pole was going to shoot back and hit him in the nuts like something out of America’s Funniest Home Videos.
I love videos like this where they show you the event happen, followed by the slow motion replay. The slow-mo is essential in emphasizing the little intricacies of this video. If it wasn’t for the slow motion replay, I would have missed the coach’s one hand catch, and the look on the jumper’s face as the pole breaks. I guess that this video validates Dave Chappelle’s theory that everything looks cooler in slow motion.
