Rickie Fowler, Tiger Woods Make U.S. Ryder Cup Team
The biggest surprise in Corey Pavin's selection today of the final four members of the Ryder Cup team wasn't Tiger Woods. It was flow-rocking 21-year-old Rickie Fowler, the first PGA Tour rookie to ever make the team. The duo join Zach Johnson, Stewart Cink, and the eight Americans who earned automatic spots on the team thanks to their strong 2010 play: Phil Mickelson, Hunter Mahan, Steve Stricker, Jim Furyk, Matt Kuchar, Bubba Watson, Dustin Johnson and Jeff Overton. Snubbed were J.B. Holmes, Anthony Kim, Lucas Glover, and Charley Hoffman, who won the Deutsche Bank tournament yesterday with a 62 in the final round. The U.S. will defend its 2008 Ryder Cup win Oct. 1-3 at the Celtic Manor in Wales. We're guessing Fowler won't be wearing his trademark Sunday orange on the final day of competition.
