Of all the Stuart Scott tributes yesterday, the one on the late SportsCenter may have been the most poignant. Longtime anchors Steve Levy and Scott Van Pelt issued brief, heartfelt statements before Scott’s words of courage from last year’s ESPY Awards played to dimmed lights on an empty desk.
The symbolism was obvious but no less moving.
It goes without saying that the world lost a bright light yesterday, but I was astounded by the sheer volume of friends who posted about Scott’s passing on social media, most of whom included a feeling of personal connection. It’s remarkable how much happiness he brought to so many people by just having fun doing what he loved.
