Tim Tebow Hits One To The Moon In His First Day After Mets Promotion
On his first day with high-A St. Lucie after being promoted Sunday from Columbia, Timmy Jesus smashed a two-run gong over the center field wall off the strong throwing arm of Cardinals pitcher Junior Fernandez.
Tebow sent the 91 mph fastball on a 3-1 count out of the park–going 3-5 with a homer, two RBIs and a walk over the day’s doubleheader. Tebow’s first hit of the day broke an 0-for-11 stretch.
“I felt good,” Tebow told reporters after the 5-3 loss. “Honestly, I felt good the last couple of weeks in Columbia and tried to carry it over. Just put the bat on the ball and hit it hard. I was just thankful I could get one out tonight.”
Tebow’s first full season playing professional baseball has been a rocky one, hitting .230/.318/.352 with 70 strikeouts in 219 at-bats.
Maybe the dude just needs to play against better competition to rise to the occasion? God willing, the dude deserves it.
