This $65 Million Loft In The Same Building Heath Ledger Lived May Be The Most Expensive Place Ever Sold In Downtown NYC

Occasionally when I sit in my shoebox of an NYC apartment, I need to remind myself of why I pay so much for so little. I could move to Cleveland or Milwaukee and have some room to stretch out, a place where a fart doesn’t dutch oven the entire apartment. The sad truth is that in New York, if you have basics like a dishwasher, a parking spot and no cockroaches, you’re very wealthy.

And if you’re a wealthy person in the market to buy in New York City, I present to you the $65 million penthouse in the Lower Manhattan neighborhood of SoHo that just hit the market. If sold, the listing would be the most expensive single residential sale in downtown Manhattan, edging out the $59.06 million penthouse that sold in Chelsea in May.

Check out photos of the place, courtesy of its co-listers Corcoran and CORE Real Estate.

The fully renovated 8,000-square-foot loft has 4 bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms and is in the same building Heath Ledger lived before his death. The master suite has a wood-burning fireplace, coffee bar, TWENTY custom closets and two private terraces.

The outdoor areas aren’t too shabby either.

Anyone want to start a GoFundMe so we can put an offer on this place? It looks big enough for all of us.
