Nicki Minaj dropped a bomb on untalented hacks who don’t write their own music (Iggy Azalea, Pharrell) during her BET Award acceptance speech. “When you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it.” BOOM. Game. Set. Match.
Minaj didn’t mention Iggy Azalea by name but damn if she wasn’t implying it. Iggy is not credited as a writer for her most famous song, “Fancy” which has topped the charts for quite some time. The two don’t have a feud, per se, but controversy seems to follow Nicki wherever she goes. Off the top of my head, I believe she’s gone at it with Rihanna, Mariah Carey and Lil Kim—just to name a few.
Minaj’s shade aside, her speech made a whole lot of sense. Sure it came off as bitchy and kind of disjointed, but her overall point of empowering women in a male-driven industry was spot on.

Keep doing what you do Nicki—just maybe tone down the shade a little.
