If there are two cultural moments to define Spring 2017, it’s the following: The disastrous tailspin of Fyre Festival and the rise of the fidget spinner, the greatest toy trend since POGS and Tamagotchi.
My fidget spinner comes from a barrel by the check out counter at a Wegmans. They’ve taken America by storm as the “thing to have” of the moment, with kids everywhere having conversations like this with their parents:
Kid: Will you buy me one of those fidget spinner things?
Mom: Go fidget with the dishes or the lawn.— Jeff Dye (@JeffDye) May 13, 2017

So how did we get here? The video above answers that exact question. And if you’re in the market for a Fidget Spinner but don’t want to be caught in public buying one at the counter of your local 7/11, here’s an $8.00 on Amazon.
