The ever-busy Adam Sandler has a new comedy special hitting Netflix this month that’s directed by Josh Safdie.

Safdie, along with his brother Benny, directed the acclaimed 2019 film Uncut Gems, which starred Adam Sandler. There have also been reports that Sandler will be starring in another film from the brothers in the coming years.

As for Sandler’s new comedy special, it’s titled Adam Sandler: Love You and it will be released on Netflix on Tuesday, August 27.

“Adam Sandler hits the stage for a thrillingly unpredictable comedy special featuring songs, jokes, party-crashing dogs and plenty of love,” Netflix says of the upcoming special from the beloved comedian. “A new comedy special from Adam Sandler directed by Josh Safdie (making his comedy special directorial debut), Adam Sandler: Love You premieres globally on Netflix on August 27, 2024.”

Last year, Sandler starred in three projects for Netflix: the comedies Murder Mystery 2 and The Out-Laws, and the animated film Leo. This year, he also starred in the Netflix film Spaceman alongside Carey Mulligan and (the voice of) Paul Dano.

Over the last decade or so, Sandler has starred in or produced over a dozen projects from the streaming service, including The Ridiculous 6, The Do-Over, Sandy Wexler, The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected), The Week Of, Murder Mystery, The Wrong Missy, Hubie Halloween, Murder Mystery 2, You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, Hustle, The Out-Laws, Leo, and Spaceman.

Sandler’s next project, an untitled “coming-of-age film about adults” co-starring George Clooney and directed by Noah Baumbach, will also be released on Netflix.

As for the Safdies, Josh’s brother Benny Safdie is currently in production on the A24 film The Smashing Machine, which is a biopic about MMA fighter Mark Kerr starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Emily Blunt.
