‘Project X Party In 2025 Are We In High School?!’: Arizona Woman Claims She Spent $10,000 On Mansion, Invites People To Huge Party. Then The Airbnb Host Responds

According to Airbnb rules, guests are not allowed to host parties—but that doesn’t stop some people from trying.

Airbnb officially codified a party ban in 2022. That said, people still occasionally attempt to throw bashes in Airbnb rentals—which can lead to some pretty awkward situations when they’re found out.

An Airbnb host recently found out that one of his guests planned to throw a party at his rental property. It was at that point that he decided to take revenge.

What Went Wrong With This Woman’s Airbnb Party?

In a video with over 3.8 million views, TikTok user Rob Abasolo (@robuilto) stitches a video from TikTok user Sunshine (@sunshineintheo). While Sunshine’s original video appears to have been deleted, Abasolo’s video contains clips of the original video.

As Abasolo shows, Sunshine’s original video was an advertisement for a party hosted at an Airbnb—that Abasolo owns.

The video starts with Sunshine’s words announcing the party.

“Attention Scottsdale, Phoenix, Tucson—all of Arizona actually, I’m throwing one of the biggest New Year’s parties ever,” Sunshine says.

“Hi. Yeah, that’s actually my house,” Abasolo cuts in. “I’m your Airbnb host, and I’ve got some bad news—um, that it’s not gonna happen.”

What Happened Next?

Over the course of the video, Abasolo pokes fun at Sunshine’s claims. For example, she says she paid $10,000 for the rental. Abasolo shows evidence that she paid less than $6,000. She also says she confirmed it was OK to host a party with the host. Abasolo shows this was not the case.

When Sunshine says that she anticipates around 2,000 people coming to the party, Abasolo declares her to be “what’s wrong with Airbnb.”

“You are the reason that people hate me and the hosting community—why my neighbors hate me, and why the hotel industry loves you, because you give Airbnb and us a bad name,” Abasolo states. “This party would have cost me not hundreds, not thousands, but tens of thousands of dollars in damages—very likely more considering you were letting 18 year olds come and drink on my property.”

It’s unclear where Abasolo got the information to make this claim, as the original video has been deleted.

To close his video, Abasolo shows himself deleting the booking. He cites the exact video she made about the party as the reason.

In a post on his Instagram stories, Abasolo claims he got Sunshine removed from Airbnb. As for how he found the video in the first place, Abasolo claims someone found it online and sent it to him.

Sunshine Responds

After Abasolo’s video went viral, Sunshine posted a video of her own responding to Abasolo’s video and some of the responses she’s received.

She says that she received death threats and threats against the party.

“The party hasn’t even happened, mind you,” she says. “I was just a girl trying to have fun, and is that wrong?”

She continues by saying that she takes accountability. She also says that she reached out to Abasolo about the threats and that he expressed sympathy but that he has continued to post about the incident. This, she says, is bringing more threats upon her.

However, she says that the experience hasn’t dissuaded her from hosting a party.

“The party is canceled on his end. It’s not canceled on my end,” she declares. “We’re still going to do this.”

She closes by saying that a “cease and desist letter is coming in the mail tomorrow” for Abasolo.

Commenters Can’t Stop Watching

In the comments section, users were divided. Some simply enjoyed the spectacle. Others supported Abasolo. Further users lamented the idea that Abasolo had an Airbnb in the first place.

“Ugh, I can’t believe she’s making me side with an air bnb owner,” wrote a user.

“Sell the house instead of being an Airbnb. Housing is for people to live in, not for you to profit on. She’s wrong, but you are, too,” stated another.

“Girl normalize throwing YOUR party at YOUR house,” declared a third.

“Is what she’s doing completely unacceptable? Yes absolutely. Is she the reason people hate Airbnb and it’s losing money? Absolutely not lmao,” wrote a further TikToker.
