Eden, a new film directed by famed filmmaker Ron Howard, is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival over the weekend.

In addition to Howard directing, Eden is notable due to its star-studded cast, which includes the likes of Jude Law, Daniel Bruhl, Vanessa Kirby, Sydney Sweeney, and Ana de Armas. Those latter three names are obviously of particular interest given they represent three of Hollywood’s hottest (in both senses of the word) up-and-coming A-list actresses.

Speaking to Vanity Fair ahead of the film’s premiere, de Armas detailed how her character “The Baroness” finds herself involved in a “crazy threesome relationship” in the film. That relationship is with “two seemingly obedient hunks” played by Felix Kammerer and Toby Wallace.

“I got a little scared, and I told [Ron] I was nervous because it was really out there,” de Armas told the magazine. “He was very supportive and excited. There was no question I wanted to do it. I wanted the challenge.”

“Having this crazy threesome relationship, and being a woman of opposites — either she’s sweet and tender and fragile and nervous and scared, or she’s absolutely crazy and dangerous,” de Armas said of her character and her performance. “It was kind of finding that limit: What was the craziest I could get? How far could I go?”

While Eden is set to premiere at TIFF on Saturday, September 7, the film does not have an American distributor, and therefore an official release date, at this time.

Eden will be de Armas’ first film since 2023’s poorly reviewed action comedy Ghosted, which she starred in alongside Chris Evans. Prior to that, de Armas earned her first Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for her performance as Marilyn Monroe in 2022’s Blonde. 2022 also saw de Armas star in The Gray Man and Deep Water.

Next up for the 36-year-old Cuban actress will be the John Wick spinoff John Wick Presents: Ballerina, which recently underwent extensive reshoots, pushing its release date back to June 2025 after being originally scheduled to release this summer.
